Aliyar Monkey Falls (Kavi Aruvi) Water Flow Reduced Due to Summer Season

MONKEYFALLS

Water flow at Monkey Falls, popularly known as Kavi Aruvi, located near Aliyar on the Pollachi–Valparai ghat road, has reduced due to the ongoing summer season.

According to local sources, the natural water flow at the falls has decreased as summer begins and rainfall in the surrounding hill regions has declined. Monkey Falls is formed by natural streams flowing from the Western Ghats, and its water volume largely depends on rainfall in the upper hill areas.

During the monsoon season, the waterfall receives abundant water and becomes a major attraction for tourists traveling towards Valparai. However, it is common for the water flow to reduce between March and May, when summer conditions prevail in the region.

At present, only a small amount of water is flowing in the falls, and on some days the water level may not be sufficient for bathing, according to local residents. However, if rainfall occurs in the hill regions, the water flow at the falls can increase again within a few hours.

Tourists traveling along the Aliyar–Valparai ghat road are advised to check the current water conditions at Monkey Falls before planning a stop at the location.
